Paul Giamatti revealed during a red carpet interview for The Golden Globes that he wants to be in a horror film. That interesting tidbit was picked up backstage, as he was asked why that Tobe Hooper classic is a personal favorite!
“I love horror movies. I’ve always loved horror movies from the time I was a little kid. They’re the first movies I remember seeing. And so they’re deep. They go deep when you’re little like that, and a horror movie goes really deep anyway, so I love all those old Universal Horror movies and all those kinds of things. I was older, I saw Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which I just think is a great movie, a horror movie or not. It’s a great movie. It’s an incredibly beautifully well-made movie. The sound and the cinematography, it’s insane. It’s an amazing movie. It’s got my favorite last shot in a movie of any movie, with the guy swinging the chainsaw around. The image of insanity is is amazing. I don’t know what I would play in a horror movie. I don’t know if I could effectively play a chainsaw killer, I don’t know, but I just love them. I think they’re great. I think you can do all kinds of crazy things in them. You can get away with a lot in a horror movie, so I love them.“
