Whether it’s his “UnREAL”  70 pound weight loss or taking part in the military themed episode (“Keep The Faith”) on The Night Shift,  Josh Kelly has a ton of stories to share. During The Night Shift interviews, I asked Kelly if there was any translatable skill he learned as an Army Ranger that he applied to his own acting journey. Video of Kelly (and Brendan Fehr) is below!

Instead of answering the skill section of the question, Josh Kelly went in a more rewarding direction (especially if you’re a movie buff), as he explained how A Night at the Roxbury was an important movie during his time in the military. In the video, he also mentions the Preston Sturges classic Sullivan’s Travels, a comedy/drama which really conveys (especially in its final moments) the importance of entertainment.

Check out the video below as Kelly discusses his acting journey, life in the military and, of course, A Night at the Roxbury:

“Entertainment is important. It is important – for soldiers. It gets you through. I’m fortunate enough where I get to believe in what I do now and I get to . . . say it because I was on the other side.” – Josh Kelly

The Night Shift airs Thursday nights on NBC (10/9c).

***Also, if you haven’t seen Sullivan’s Travels, it’s definitely a must-watch (Joel McCrea and Veronica Lake are fantastic):
