Written and directed by Chad Archibald, “It Feeds” is a first rate horror thriller that may have slipped through the cracks on a busy box office weekend. With “Sinners” and “A Minecraft Movie,” leading the way, indie films like “It Feeds” may be hard to find. Both Eric Holmes and I praised the movie on our latest CinemAddicts episode. Check out our spoiler free review and learn a thing or two about “It Feeds!”
“It Feeds” centers on Cynthia Winstone (Ashley Greene), a clairvoyant who initially refuses to help Riley (Shayelin Martin), a young girl who claims an entity is feeding on her. Cynthia’s daughter Jordan (Ellie O’Brien) wants to help Riley, even though Riley’s father ( Shawn Ashmore) is totally unwelcoming).
Jordan does not heed her mother’s orders and attempts to help Riley and immediately puts herself in a dangerous situation. Cynthia, aided by her friend Agatha (Juno Rinaldi), embark on a mission to save Jordan. Although a life threatening creature threatens their well being, there may be more evil beings to face!
CinemAddicts co-host Bruce Purkey would probably have enjoyed this movie as well, especially since “Anything For Jackson” actor Julian Richings has a small (yet pivotal) role as a doctor who once treated Riley’s late mother.
Powered by standout performances from Greene and O’Brien, the feature is also a resonant mother and daughter drama. There is also a healthy dose of horror in the narrative, and the third act is totally bonkers (in a good way).
