As Topher (Ken Leung), TC (Eoin Macken), and Scott (Scott Wolf) treat the youths, Jordan (Jill Flint) and Gwen (Merle Dandridge) tend to the other car crash victim (a pregnant woman whose fiance is serving in Afghanistan).

Though The Night Shift’s bread and butter lies in its effective employment of melodramatic elements, part of the show’s success lies in its clear-eyed portrayal of military vets who, while attempting to deal with their past tragedies, move forward and attempt to make a difference in the world (as evidenced by TC’s journey).

For Jill Flint, partaking in The Night Shift is more than just a job. “I didn’t realize how closely it would touch me and affect me,” says the actress. Considering the experiences in my own life – having family in the military and whatnot. You do your best with this. When you are dealing with something – as far as the vets – you really want to honor them as much as you possibly can.”

Check out the video below, as Jill Flint and Eoin Macken talk about how they’ve been personally affected from their involvement on The Night Shift.
“Eyes Look Your Last,” the latest episode of The Night Shift, airs tonight (NBC, 10 pm et/pt).
