Written and directed by Warwick Thornton (“Sweet Country”), “The New Boy” features Cate Blanchett as Sister Eileen, a nun in 1940s Australia who believes an Aboriginal child (Aswan Reid) has special powers. Unfortunately, the boy’s spiritual beliefs does not fit with the mission’s Christianity. CinemAddicts co-host Bruce Purkey reviewed “The New Boy” on this week’s episode.

Having absolutely loved “Sweet Country,” I am highly looking forward to checking out “The New Boy.” Bruce Purkey’s reaction to “The New Boy,” however, was not too positive, and he described the film as “a dud.” Check out his full review below:
