Suzi Q, now available on DVD and VOD, is an incisive and inspiring look at Suzi Quatro, a Detroit raised rocker who carved out a diverse career and inspired an entire generation of musicians. In the following video, I asked Quatro about her lifelong love for playing bass guitar!
Suzi Quatro Talks About Her Bass Guitar Origins

Directed by Liam Firmager, Suzi Q centers on Suzi Quatro’s 55-year career as a pioneer in rock thanks to such hits as “Can The Can,” “48 Crash,” and “Daytona Demon.” The documentary features interviews with Quatro (who is refreshingly candid about her life), Alice Cooper, Deborah Harry (Blondie), Joan Jett, Cherie Currie (The Runaways), Henry Winkler (Happy Days), KT Tunstall, Kathy Valentine (The Go-Go’s) and members of Quatro’s family.

The anchor behind Suzi Quatro’s musicianship lies in her passion for bass guitar playing. “You do have to be percussive minded,” said Quatro whose ongoing Bass Line series is part of her YouTube Channel. “Less is more sometimes. You have to find your spaces. I play bass with the same instinct (that) I entertain. I find my moments.”

Suzi Q is now available on DVD and VOD. For more info on Suzi Quatro’s continuing journey as an artist, check out her official site (suziquatro.com).
