Along with her work in La Reina del Sur, Kate del Castillo also starred in last year’s indie feature All About Nina, The 33, and Under the Same Moon. Check out her comments regarding the motivation question, and the video version is featured after the transcript.

Every single day I just thank God, first of all, for being alive, and I’m grateful for everything that I’ve done. But I know I have still so much to say and so much to do. And because I have an amazing family and I am surrounded by love, I just want to give back. There’s so much that we need to do. People like me (that) have a following. It’s almost an obligation to help other people and to put a good word out there. I’ve been an activist for a long time now and that gives me the courage and the passion every single day that I wake up. So there’s a lot to do out there.
