Abrams has a huge responsibility with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, as it aims to wrap up an epic Star Wars story that spans nine movies. Abrams ended The Force Awakens in resonant fashion, as Rey ventured a far distance to meet her supposed mentor Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). Director Rian Johnson turned that mentorship a bit on its head with The Last Jedi, as we discovered Skywalker had valid reasons from turning his attentions away from teaching the ways of The Force.
At this weekend’s Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, Rey gave her thoughts on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
“I think the emotional vibe of this film is amazing,” said Ridley. “It really did feel like everything feels good and fulfilled and sort of explored. It feels wonderful to be a part of that. (J.J. Abrams) has done an amazing job because he and Chris (writer Chris Terrio) have literally tied up 42 years worth of film into one thing so it does exist as part of the three. And it also exists as part of the nine. So that is all credit to them.”
