This week’s CinemAddicts features a couple of movie gems that are worth checking out. Topping the list is the new documentary The Disappearance of Shere Hite from IFC Films and the horror-thriller Do Not Disturb from Dark Star Pictures. Listen to episode 216 below and hopefully you will find a movie to watch over the weekend!
First up is the Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Starring Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, and Kiersey Clemons, the series centers on two silbings who are attempting to uncover their familly’s connection to the organization named Monarch. The program spans three generations, leading to “earth-shattering” events. Bruce Purkey has seen several episodes and recommends Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Opening Friday in select theaters, The Disappearance of Shire Hite centers on the life of Shere Hite, the author of the bestselling book The Hite Report. Taken from anonymous survey responses, the book started a much needed dialogue on women’s sexuality. Hite’s extensive sex research led to a media feeding frenzy, and a media backlash may have led to her “disappearance.” Running at 118 minutes, The Disappearance of Shire Hite is a gripping look at the unwavering and charismatic Hite. Director Nicole Newnham (Crip Camp) absolutely nails this documentary. Dakota Johnson, who narrates the doc (as the voice of Hite), is also an executive producer. Please mark this one you your “to watch” list!! My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bruce’s rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Described as a “psychedelic horror film,” Do Not Disturb centers Chloe (Kimberly Laferriere) and Jack (Rogan Christopher), newlyweds who undergo a peyote experience to fortify their union. Unfortunately, this mind trip leads them to have cannibalistic urges, and flesh eating probably does not bode well for marital bliss! Written and directed by John Ainslie, Do Not Disturb hits theaters November 17 and arrives on VOD November 21. Eric Holmes absolutely loves this movie, as he gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½.
