One of this year’s biggest sleepers, the horror-thriller Lights Out hits Blu-ray October 25 and Digital HD on October 11. Directed by nascent filmmaker David H. Sandberg and produced by James Wan (The Conjuring), Lights Out is based on Sandberg’s short film.

The project centers on Rebecca (Teresa Palmer), a woman whose childhood fears of an unknown entity resurface after the same unexplained events occur to her younger brother Martin (Gabriel Bateman). With this presence holding a mysterious attachment to their mom (Maria Bello), Rebecca unlocks the mystery that’s terrorized her all these years, leading to a dangerous and fateful “lights out” encounter.

With an estimated budget of just $4.9 million, Lights Out has made over $111 million worldwide. I’ll be reviewing this film once I get a copy, and am definitely looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about!

***Both the Blu-ray and standard DVD editions come with Lights Out deleted scenes.
