‘Botched By Nature’ Doctors Hit The Road For Fulfilling Journey

At today’s NBCUniversal Summer Press Tour, Dr. Terry Dubrow and Dr. Paul Nassif talked about their new series Botched By Nature, an eight episode program which has them traveling through the country and meeting people who have had their share of challenges due to genetics or traumatic incidents (one patient, as seen from the series’ trailer, was struck by lightning).

“We have to immerse and embed ourselves in their world and meet their families and friends to make sure that it’s really worth upsetting the apple cart,” says Dubrow. “Because they’ve grown accustom to this. It’s very personal for us. It’s very risky for them and us and that’s why we go out to their small town where they don’t have access to plastic surgeons and see whether it’s worth taking the risk.”

During today’s interview, I asked the doctors if getting personally attached to the people they met along their Botched by Nature journey was a good thing or if it may have affected their own approach to their patients.
