I have no idea what the story title means (just thought it was catchy), but one game I’m excited to play is the Coffee Crisis, a beat ‘em up brawler with an interesting premise.

As a java fiend (I’m running out of cash thanks to my daily $4.00 per cup purchases), Coffee Crisis has a storyline that hits right down main street (that is, if the street was filled with punch happy, caffeine addicts). With the game, which just came out today on Xbox One, gamers will take on the role of Nick and Ashley, baristas who bravely venture outside their employment to take on alien invaders. Hard driving music is also part of this beat up aesthetic, and hopefully all these ingredients make for a top flight video game.

“Is there somebody on Earth who wouldn’t love to smash a greedy alien face while listening to heavy metal,” says Zack Manko, head of Mega Cat Studios. “Bringing Coffee Crisis to Xbox One is a goal we are very proud of achieving.”

Features in the game, according to the press release, include “hand drawn sprites, destructible environmental items, and a rogue-inspired Death Metal mode with over 50 modifiers.” The game is also out on PC, Mac, Linux, and Sega Genesis (cartridge form).

I’ll be requesting a review code of Coffee Crisis and will post my thoughts on the title shortly. If you play the game before I do, I’d love to hear your thoughts on Coffee Crisis below!

Coffee Crisis can be purchased via Mega Cat Studios’ website.
