Premiering Monday, June 8 (Bravo, 10 pm et/pt), the freshman series Odd Mom Out has deliciously acerbic (and witty) author Jill Kargman playing a heightened version of herself as she finds herself ensconced in the burdensome, keeping up with the Joneses environment of New York’s Upper East Side. During an interview with Kargman, I asked her how she found her voice as a writer.

“My dad paid his way through Columbia Business School doing stand-up comedy,” says Kargman, whose books include “Momzillas: It’s a jungle out there on Park Avenue, baby!“

A writing stint with Interview Magazine starting at 20 also served as preparation for her eventual transition as a novelist, and now she’s front and center with “Odd Mom Out.”
