Trailer: Saiorse Ronan Struggles With Sobriety In Orkney Set ‘The Outrun’

Based on Amy Lipton’s well received 2015 memoir, “The Outrun” centers on an alcoholic (Saoirse Ronan) trying to piece her life back together in the Orkney Islands. Feature, directed and co-written by Nora Fingscheidt (with Liptrot), hits theaters October 4.
Rona (Saoirse Ronan), is a 29-year-old who returns home to the Orkney Islands after a decade spent in London. Though sober, Rona understands that it is a lifelong struggle.
As one person says in the trailer, “It never gets easy, it just gets less hard.”
The feature co-stars Paapa Essiedu (“I May Destroy You”), Saskia Reeves (“Slow Horses”), and Stephen Dillane (“Game of Thrones”).
