David Oyelowo (Selma) and Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) star in A United Kingdom, the true story of the relationship between London office worker Ruth Williams (Pike) and Seretse Khama, the King of Botswana. Amma Asante, who helmed the acclaimed 2013 feature Belle, directs the Guy Hibbert (Eye in the Sky) penned script.
The pair initially met in 1947 and they persevered even though pressure was applied by their families as well as the British and South African governments for them not to marry. Their union would lead to the raising of four children, one of which (Ian Khama) became president of Botswana in 2008.
The movie hits theaters November 25th, and the trailer shows that Oyelowo and Pike work well together.
Both actors worked on the Tom Cruise headlined feature Jack Reacher (which featured director Werner Herzog and Jai Courtney as the bad guys!) What’s your favorite Pike or Oyelowo performance? Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think!!
