“Karate Kid: Legends” centers on Li Fong (Ben Wang), a kung fu prodigy who leaves his Beijing home and is forced to move to New York City with. his mom. Struggling to fit in with new classmates, Li ultimately enters a karate competition to help out a friend. His kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) seeks out Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) to help in Li’s training.

As LaRusso mentions to Li in the trailer, he and Mr. Han are “two branches, one tree,” and Li will merge their respective styles for the inevitable martial arts showdown. Rounding out the ensemble are Joshua Jackson, Ming-Na Wen and Sadie Stanley.

It will be interesting to see if Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso’s back story will be incorporated into the feature. Will there be a passing reference to “Cobra Kai,” or will that be left off “Karate Kid: Legends?”

The movie, which is not yet rated, hits theaters May 30. Will you be seeing “Karate Kid: Legends” opening weekend? Share your opinion in the comments!
