Thanks to good friend and filmmaker Anderson Cowan, I’ve been fixated on S. Craig Zahler’s filmmaking for the past year. Bone Tomahawk and Brawl In Cell Block 99 are absolute classics, and one hopes Dragged Across Concrete Will reach similar heights. Details on the film, as well as the trailer, are below!
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Director/writer S. Craig Zahler has enlisted several of his Brawl In Cell Block 99 actors (Vaughn, Jennifer Carpenter, Don Johnson, Udo Kier), and it will be interesting to see if the 158-minute Dragged Against Concrete is its spiritual cousin. The soul music that was prominently featured in Brawl is also featured in Dragged, as evidenced by the trailer song “Shotgun Safari.” Zahler and Jeff Herriott composed “Shotgun Safari,” and they also crafted the songs for Brawl In Cell Block 99. Amidst the violence and gritty storytelling behind Zahler’s movies, the music for behind his work is vastly underrated. For a little proof, check out “The Letter,” a song that’s on my daily playlist.
