November marks the 50th anniversary of Days of our Lives, and actors Galen Gering, Kristian Alfonso, and Stephen Nichols were on hand at the NBC/Universal Summer Press Tour to talk about their excitement for the celebration.
Their anticipation for the 50th anniversary isn’t simply borne out of nostalgia or out of a deep appreciation for their fans, as they also discuss how the Days of our Lives’ writing and producing staff is at an all-time creative high.
“As corny as this may seem,” says Alfonso, who has been part of the Days ensemble since 1983. “I really have enjoyed all the storylines that I have been involved in. I’ve never repeated a storyline so, knock on wood, that’s incredible – especially in daytime.”
“We do have this new writing team that is pushing ahead with these stories,” adds Gering. “There’s so much intrigue and excitement and mystery – it’s really fun. So we’re celebrating that now.”
