Fallout 3 was a complete wonder, as the journey of finding one’s place amidst a doomed, resource challenged wasteland is a compelling narrative that, to me, never gets old (especially when you have a Pip-Boy in tow). Today’s announcement of Fallout 4 brought me back to those gaming memories but also filled me hope for even more awe-inspiring moments to come.

All we know thus far is that Bethesda Softworks will have its world premiere of Fallout 4 at their E3 Showcase, which takes place at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on June 14 (7 pm pst). Fans can stream the event live via Twitch and YouTube.

“We know what this game means to everyone,” said Game Director Todd Howard, “The time and technology have allowed us to be more ambitious than ever. We’ve never been more excited about a game, and we can’t wait to share it.”

I’m loving most of the selection of images that were edited into the Fallout 4’s trailer, though seeing a Deathclaw in the early morning light isn’t exactly on my bucket list.

The Ink Spots, whose haunting and catchy melodies are a huge part of the Fallout universe, return during the trailer’s opening moments with “It’s All Over But The Crying.” As the trailer below suggests, “War never changes,” as the vault dweller and his canine buddy roam various Boston landmarks, including a run-down Fenway Park.
