I’m very proud to be a part of this show,” said Daniel Dae Kim. “It’s one that I saw several years ago after it aired in Korea. It started as a Korean series and I loved the message of it. And it was a very familiar genre to American audiences in that it’s a medical show and I thought it would be a really good opportunity to make it in America. That was the impetus for me to try and bring it over. But everyone knows that it’s not enough to have the right intellectual property – you have to have the right people behind it and that’s why it was such a crucial element to be able to bring someone like David (Shore) aboard to bring this vision to life.”
With Kim believing that there could be “something special” with The Good Doctor, it begs the question if he will remain behind the scenes with the show or actually put on his acting hat. Listen to Kim answer that TCA question below (he mentions The Good Doctor co-stars Nicholas Gonzalez and Antonia Thomas in the clip):
The Good Doctor, headlined by Freddie Highmore, premieres Monday, September 29 on ABC (10/9c).
