Fox Searchlight has announced that Brooklyn hits theaters November 6, 2015. If you’re expecting a gentrified area filled with yoga studios and farm to table restaurants, your time machine is set on the wrong dial.
This Brooklyn is set in the 1950s, as Eilis Lacey (Saoirse Ronan, last seen in The Grand Budapest Hotel), an Irish immigrant whose homesickness gradually washes away with a budding romance. But her days are far from halcyon, as echoes from her past reverberate to the New York City shores.
The picture is directed by John Crowley, the helmer behind the Eric Bana thriller Closed Circuit, with About a Boy scribe Nick Hornby penning the screenplay. Domhnall Gleeson (Calvary, Unbroken), Jim Broadbent, Julie Walters, and Emory Cohen co-star in the project, which is based on Colm Tóibín’s novel.
