Just watched the trailer to “Between The Temples,” and the innate chemistry between co-stars Jason Schwartzman and Carole Kane shines through. The movie, currently sitting at 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, also stars Dolly de Leon (excellent in “Ghostlight”) and Caroline Aaron.

“Between The Temples” centers on Ben (Jason Schwartzman), a forty-something cantor who has become disillusioned. Not exactly fulfilling the expectations of his congregation or his two Jewish mom (Caroline Aaron, Dolly de Leon), Ben finds his life positively altered by a chance encounter with his grade school music teacher Carla (Carol Kane).

Carla asks for Ben’s guidance as his adult bat mitzvah student, and their friendship drives director/writer Nathan Silver’s feature. C. Mason Wells is credited as the script’s co-scribe.

Catch “Between The Temples” in theaters August 23, 2024!
