During the times I’ve sat at roundtables to interview Alexandra Park, she’s always been refreshingly candid and insightful. Season four’s finale airs tonight on E! (10/9c), and in the video below Park discusses why she’s forever “grateful” for her experience on The Royals.

With the firing of showrunner Mark Schwahn for alleged sexual harassment, The Royals has had its share of turmoil. Amidst this work environment, Alexandra Park and the ensemble have managed to creatively flourish, and during the interview I asked the actress about what she’s learned from the show:

“I’ve been and am and will be forever be so grateful for The Royals and for Princess Eleanor, the character I’ve been playing for the last four years. Because I, unlike William (Moseley), who had a movie franchise before this show hadn’t done a lot of professional work at all. I came from Australia. Pretty much was in LA (Los Angeles)  for a minute and then went straight on to The Royals. I was very nervous going in, working with people that are very established and, you know, known (and) very good at their craft.

There’s been a million things that I’ve learned along the way in terms of just trusting  your own work and your own sort of gut feeling in terms of scenes and your character. I felt very grateful to add pieces of myself into this character and figure out who she is and also learn more about myself in the process as we went along. It’s been an absolutely amazing journey in many ways.”
