Director Sidney Lumet’s 12 Angry Men hits 4K UHD on April 18 via Kino Lorber. This courtroom drama, considered one of Lumet’s finest films, is headlined by Henry Fonda. This Kino Lorber release has special features that I am salivating over – details are featured below!!

Nominated for three Oscars (Director, Picture, Adapted Screenplay), 12 Angry Men centers on a jury on a New York City murder trial. Initially set to find the defendant guilty, the jury members carefully rethink their decision thanks to Juror No. 8 (Henry Fonda). The stellar ensemble includes Lee J. Cobb, Martin Balsam, and Jack Klugman.

Special features on the 4KUHD disc includes a new 4K scan of the original camera negative and a new audio commentary from screenwriter/film historian Gary Gerani. Also included is a separate audio commentary by film historian Drew Casper.

Disc two is also worth a look since it features the 1997 version of 12 Angry Men. William Friedkin directed the movie, which was headlined by Jack Lemmon. Also included is a making-of-featurettes “Beyond a Reasonable Doubt: Making of 12 Angry Men” and “Inside the Jury Room.” The special features also makes note of a “theatrical trailer,” even though the 1997 movie was, from my recollection, released on cable. Anyways, disc two also comes with a trailer. Both discs come with optional English subtitles.

Almost two years ago, we covered Sidney Lumet’s The Pawnbroker and Night Falls On Manhattan. Take a listen below:
