Two time Oscar nominated filmmaker Joshua Oppenheimer (“The Act of Killing,” “The Look of Silence”) turns his camera to an offbeat and hopefully visionary musical called “The End.” Starring Tilda Swinton, George Mackay, Moses Ingram, and Michael Shannon, “The End” is penned by Rasmus Heisterberg and Oppenheimer. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think!
The movie is described as a “Golden Age” inspired musical about the last human family. A husband and wife (Michael Shannon, Tilda Swinton) have raised their son (George Mackay) in an underground area for two decades thanks to their hired help (Bronagh Gallagher, Tim McInnerny, Lennie James).
When a stranger (Moses Ingram) enters their life and captivates the son, the family dynamic is most likely altered. Amidst all this apocalyptic drama is a musical, and from the looks of the trailer the songs are good (and the actors can carry a tune).
“The End” hits Los Angeles and New York on December 6, with a theatrical expansion on December 13. Just on the music and talent alone, I’m looking forward to reviewing this feature on CinemAddicts.
On this week’s CinemAddicts, we review “The Gutter” and “Cellar Door.”
