The three-part documentary series Navajo Police: Class 57 centers on a group of recruits who go through the Navajo Police Training Academy and out into the field. Filmmakers Kahlil Hudson, Alex Jablonski and David Nordstrom captured a year in the life of these recruits. Cinemaddicts co-host Eric Holmes talked to the directors about Navajo Police: Class 57 which debuts today on HBO and Max.
Although the Navajo Nation has a popultation of over 190,000, the Navajo Police Department (NPD) has only 180 police officers. With an attrition rate of over 50%, the NPD is under pressure to increase its numbers while policing over the largest Indian reservation in the U.S.
Navajo Police: Class 57 premieres today on HBO and is streaming on Max. The final episode airs on HBO October 18 (9 pm et/pt) and the 3-part documentary series is streaming on Max in its entirety.
