Two time Oscar winning actress Hilary Swank (Boys Don’t Cry, Million Dollar Baby) is headed to space in the series Away. The Netflix program debuts September 4th, and check out the trailer and images for more details on Away.
Since it’s executive produced by Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood), the safe bet is that the description of Awaybeing a “thrilling, emotional drama” is apt.
Astronaut Emma Green (Hilary Swank) is leading an international crew on the first mission to Mars, and her big sacrifice is leaving behind her husband (Josh Charles) and teenage daughter (Talitha Bateman). Created by Andew Hinderaker, the program centers on the personal dymanics among the astronauts and how being away from their loved ones understandably takes a toll.
During past CinemAddicts podcasts, Anderson Cowan has praised the Swank feature I Am Mother(which I still haven’t seen) and I have praised Swank’s performance in the overlooked family drama What They Had. Bottom line is that with Swank as the lead, the project has a shot at being memorable.
