There’s a couple of reasons why I’m pretty excited to check out Stumptown. For one, it’s based on a Greg Rucka graphic novel, and Rucka is one of the most acclaimed writers in the comic book industry. Secondly, the cast has its share of talented actors, and Emmy winning actress Camryn Manheim (The Practice, Ghost Whisperer) discusses why she’s excited about being a part of Stumptown.

Stumptown centers on Dex Parios (Cobie Smulders), an army veteran who makes ends meet as a Portland, Oregon private eye. With a gambling debt and messy love life to shoulder, Dex may be a sharp private eye, but she doesn’t come sans complications.

During the Stumptown press day, Camryn Manheim discussed what intrigued her about playing Lieutenant Cosgrove. She also praised the show’s “beautiful writing” and “amazing cast”:

“We tend to see a lot of professionals in uniform, we never get to see their backstory. We never get to see their flaws,” said Manheim who recently attended Feast Portland with her Stumptown colleagues. “We don’t get to see their life as it is. What’s going to be great about Lieutenant Cosgrove is she has a life and she some desperations and some goals she never reached . . . I’m really looking forward to going deeper into a woman in her 50s who is good at what she does and what is life about. This is such a character driven show.”
