Tegan and Sara’s memoir High School will be published in fall 2019. The book follows the personal and music journey of the identical twins from Calgary, Alberta. Before their acclaim, the pair had to start somewhere, and High School will attempt to answer an array of “complicated” questions.

In a career that spans over twenty years, Tegan and Sara have released eight studio records (which includes the catchy beyond belief pop effort Love You To Death) and sold over one million records. Three Juno Awards, a Grammy nod, and a New York Civil Liberties Union Award are just several of the honors they’ve received over the years.

In 2017, Tegan and Sara Present The Con X: Covers celebrated the 10-year anniversary of their album The Con, and 14 artists contributed on a stripped down take of the album. All of the proceeds from The Con X: Covers benefit The Tegan and Sara Foundation, an organization fighting for “health, economic justice, and representation for LGBTQ girls and women”

My personal favorite from that collection was Hayley Williams’ cover of “Nineteen.”

“How did you start your band? When did you know that you were gay? What were you like before Tegan and Sara? We have spent twenty years answering those complicated questions with simple answers,” said Tegan and Sara. “Writing High School gives us the opportunity to tell the intricate stories that shaped our relationship as sisters, musicians, and queer girls.”

High School will be released fall 2019 via MCD, a division of Farrar, Straus & Giroux stateside (Simon & Schuster handles Canada and Virago has dibs in the United Kingdom). Tegan and Sara begin work on their ninth album next year.
