Monica Dolan and Earl Cave in “Days of the Bagnold Summer” (Greenwich Entertainment)

Based on the graphic novel of the same name, Days of the Bagnold Summer centers on Sue Bagnold (Monica Dolan), a librarian and single mom who is trying her best to bond with her Metallica listening son Daniel (Earl Cave, son of Nick Cave).

When Daniel learns his trip to Florida for some father and son time is cancelled, he becomes even more morose at the thought of spending summer with dear old mom. Propelled by reflective, soothing, and oftentimes ironic music from Belle & Sebastian and two excellent performances from Dolan and Cave, the feature is a total gem.
