Part of one’s longevity in the entertainment business is that, along with innate talent, one must have an insatiable sense of drive and ambition. “My trajectory is kind of set on careers that went on to actually affect culture,” says America’s Got Talent host Nick Cannon. “That’s what I really want to do.”
Along with his acting, directing, and singing career, Nick Cannon’s diverse artistic resume includes his hosting duties on America’s Got Talent, which begins its new season tonight (NBC, 8 pm et/pt). Though he’s blessed with a high profile gig, part of Cannon’s success centers on not resting on his laurels while also from Hollywood’s most successful entertainers:
“I’m humbled to be able to do the things that I do and I see it as a blessing because I look up to careers like Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra. And when you think about what those gentleman did previously in the yesteryears – they were doing this type of stuff and tons of other things. Not only was (Bob Hope) one of the best comedians and showmen that we’ve ever had – He was a great actor. He was a great philanthropist and an outstanding businessman. The man hosted the Oscars more than anyone.”
