The second season of NBC’s The Night Shift begins tonight (10 pm et/pt), as life at San Antonio Memorial, as the cliche goes, will never be the same. While the good news is Topher (Ken Leung) survived the shooting, Jordan (Jill Flint) took some heat while begrudgingly treating a criminal and TC (Eoin Macken) suffered an emotional breakdown while reflecting on a past military tragedy.

Though hospital dramas are nothing new to television, The Night Shift is anchored by a first rate ensemble (including Brendan Fehr and Freddy Rodriguez) and powered by an innate chemistry between Macken and Flint.

I really loved Macken’s work during last season’s finale, and I asked Macken and Flint about the difficulties in shooting TC’s highly charged moment with Jordan. Check out the video below for their answer, as Macken jokes that they should, when shooting tough scenes, have a “safe word” for each other.

Will Jordan and TC’s friendship after their recent encounter, and is Topher fully recovered after being steps away from death? Are you excited about the second season premiere of The Night Shift?

Feel free to comment below, and personally I hope the show continues the momentum from last season’s gripping finale.
