Though she grew up in the small town of Crandall, Georgia (pop. 300), no moment on The Voice has been too big for Ellie Lawrence. Her compelling rendition of Jermaine Stewart’s “We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off” received a three chair turn (Blake Shelton, what were you thinking???), and her subtle self confidence and unique flair makes her a perfect member for Team Gwen.
Lawrence’s success continued through the battle rounds, as she and Tim Atlas brought a ton of heat (and a smattering of chemistry) with their performance of “Sweater Weather.” Coach Gwen Stefani kept Lawrence on her team, and thankfully Atlas was stolen and is now part of Team Pharrell.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Ellie Lawrence earlier this morning, and during our chat she talked about being positively shaped by her hometown, bonding with Gwen Stefani, and trying her best to live in the moment during all this wonderful Voice madness.
“My town has not only shaped me as an artist, but it has also shaped me as a woman . . . ” said Lawrence. “I was able to grow up and completely be 100% me.”
